USDT to Naira: A Safe P2P Trading Guide for Nigerians (Bybit & OKX Rates Compared)
USDT P2P is how many Nigerians move value - here are today's real rates and the safety rules that stop you getting scammed.
· Guide · by NigerianINTEL Research Desk
Buying or selling USDT peer-to-peer? Today Bybit P2P shows buy ₦1,375 / sell ₦1,359 while OKX sits near ₦1,364. Here is how to read the spread - and the safety rules that matter more than the rate.
Peer-to-peer (P2P) trading is the main way Nigerians swap between naira and USDT. You deal directly with another person while the exchange holds the crypto in escrow. The rate is half the story - staying safe is the other half.
Today's live USDT/NGN rates
| Exchange | Buy (you pay ₦) | Sell (you get ₦) | Spread |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bybit P2P | ₦1,375.10 | ₦1,358.80 | about 1.2% |
| OKX P2P | ₦1,364.40 | ₦1,364.20 | about 0.02% |

How to read this: "buy" is the cheapest rate to buy USDT with naira; "sell" is the best rate to sell USDT for naira. The gap between them is the spread - the cost of buying and instantly selling. A tiny spread (like OKX today) means a healthy, competitive market.
The 6 safety rules that prevent scams
- Never release crypto before you SEE the money in your bank app. Not an SMS, not a screenshot, not "payment pending". SMS alerts can be faked.
- Stay inside the exchange's escrow. Anyone asking to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or direct transfer is setting up a scam. Escrow is your only protection.
- Pick verified merchants. High completion rate (95%+), hundreds of orders, verified badge.
- Match names exactly. The paying bank account name must match the trader's verified name. Third-party payments are a classic fraud trick - cancel the trade.
- Sellers: beware chargebacks. Scammers send naira, get your USDT, then reverse the transfer. Prefer merchants paying from accounts in their own name.
- Start small. Test any new counterparty with ₦10,000-₦50,000 before moving larger amounts.
When P2P beats the alternatives
USDT P2P rates (₦1,364-₦1,375 today) track the street dollar rate closely - often tighter than bureau de change spreads. If you already hold crypto, P2P is usually your best exit to naira. If you are receiving money from abroad, a licensed remittance app is usually simpler and safer - compare both before you move anything.
How NigerianINTEL solves this
- Live order books every 15 minutes. We pull Bybit and OKX P2P directly - real buy and sell walls, not a once-a-day screenshot.
- USDT only. Our table filters by token, so a BTC price can never slip into your USDT comparison (we fixed that bug and guard against it).
- Both sides shown. Buy and sell together, so you see the real cost of the market.
- Rate alerts. Set a target USDT/NGN level and get notified when the market reaches it.
- 30-day history. See if today's rate is a spike or the new normal before moving large amounts.
Live rates every 15 minutes: compare USDT/NGN across exchanges before every trade.
